Machines (I + II)
An exploration in use of water-soluble pastels, Machines I and II were prints completed on mulberry rice paper and heavyweight bristol, respectively. I combined traditional illustrative techniques with layered images on plexiglass plates to give a glimpse into the inner machinations of my creative thinking. Machines I features bright colors in stark contrast to sterile gray tones. I combined a similar motif used in Moonhead to frame the creature at the center. Machines II utilizes color to direct the view in an open, negative-space-centric composition. My intent here was to picture a world where machines existed without us.
